I just finished the book, World War Z.
Now this maybe just me, but the reason I find zombie movies so fascinating is that there is a small part of me that wants things like this to happen. You go through the scenarios in your head, what would you do, where would you go, supplies, all that sort of stuff.
I just wonder if this is because our generation, and I am talking 20 to 60 here haven't had a world war to go through. We have never been tested when it really counts, I think a lot of us yearn for that test.
I remember reading about the WW2 veterans who came back from Europe or the Pacific and immediately asked their girl to marry them and had kids. It was because they had seen first hand how fragile and short life could be. They had to live life fast.
Our generation has never had that "life defining" time and I think its something we have missed. We seemed to meander through life as if we have all the time in the world. The age that people have kids is getting later and later, I mean I am 42 and just having my second ( theres reason for that which I wont go into here). However a big reason was I went through my 20s and 30s thinking I would have all the time in the world.
So is it just me that has this secret desire to see the world descend into anarchy?

no. you are not alone. there is something about a world gone mad and trying to survive in it thats appealing. like the last people on earth movies where you can go and do whatever you want.......own anything you ever wanted...............but yet with the materialistic value stripped from every luxury.......materialism is replaced with functionality. will that corvette play a role in my survival or would something less attractive serve me better?
i most definitely have that secret desire to see the world decend into anarchy..........until i realize that it means no more electricity or any of the things we take for granted........so my secret desire includes a doctor, hunter and a scientist who can hotwire a nuclear plant to provide unlimited power............and a modest harem!

I often wonder if this is root cause of all the current "worlds end" scenarios, a secret desire for it to be true.

I like my world. You crazy people need to stop trying to spread your Vulcan mind trips.
Other than the harems, a world of anarchy would suck ass!! Call me soft, but I like modern conveniences.
Now don't think for a minute I don't have a nice spot in the mountains picked out in case shit goes down, but that is despite the point.

Theres just such an enticement about seeing the world turned upside down. I suppose its got a lot to do with why we are all here, searching for something more. A zombie plague wouldnt be good, but it would prove there is something more out there than we realise. Its like proof of aliens, it would open doors, prove theres something more than what we see everyday.

I think there's sooooooo much inequality that we need to level the playing fields. I hope for utter decimation of countries and landscapes. Let the wrath begin, zombies and asteroids alike! mwa ha ha ha ha no but in all honestly i want a new beginning...asap

I wonder how many times in the past we have been given that chance and end up in the exact same place. Here, yearning to start over again. Human natures a bitch.
