VIC Darchinyan was screaming when, finally, they removed his hand wraps. Screaming. "Yes, bad. Very, very bad," the new IBO world bantamweight champion said yesterday, his swollen left hand submerged in a bucket of ice.

Darchinyan is today being hailed among Australia's toughest athletes after fighting gutsy Filipino Eric Barcelona for 12 rounds with a broken left hand at Parramatta Leagues Club on Thursday night.

The Daily Telegraph has obtained a copy of the X-ray, which clearly shows the busted bone that was suffered a fortnight ago while sparring Aussie welterweight Lovemore Ndou.

So bad was the break, Darchinyan was only able to throw his trademark left three or four times a round, spending the rest of his time moving, boxing and generally waiting out the pain so he could throw another one

Yeah, Vic is not known for exactly trying to be gentle out there. Gutsy little bastard. Fists of granite, but does need to work on his technique a little more. Very raw. Donaire proved this by seeing his flaws and stepping in and taking him out with one punch.
I bet if he had been working with someone like Freddy Roach since the beginning of his career, he would almost be unbeatable
