This is a mystery that has caused much speculation over the years involving the total disapearance in 1872 of a competent seafaring crew with the ship and cargo intact and sailing full sail through the straits of Gibraltar. www.maryceleste.net/part2.htm

Yeah. The first vid got me hooked, starting to watch the rest. Writing this to let you know you aren't being ignored in the posts. It's just long and will take a bit to get through it. Nice post.

Glad you guys are intrigued on this mystery like myself, its as if the crew just disapeared into thin air, no trauma, even the food on the plates in the mess were still untouched. Cant blame the Bermuda Triangle although this has been debunked recently as far as aeroplanes are concerned news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8248334.stm

It seems like every couple of years someone comes along saying they have found a plane from Flight 19, then when its looked into it turns out not to be from Flight 19 at all. I still believe Flight 19 is one of the most enduring mysteries of our time, how did five navy pilots get lost in such a small and familiar area for so long. And I still love the Mary Celeste story, although, the most plausable explanation I did hear was that the crew mistook escaping gas from the cargo hold as a fire and abandoned ship quickly, only to loos the ship which carried on without them.

K, as far as what Darryl says on this, I agree. Nothing has been debunked. I saw a video a while back about methane gas. Possible, but not debunked. I have seen and read theories about magnetisism, possible, but not debunked. The alien agenda, possible and yet not debunked. No one has total proof, which is why they still are investigating. If something was debunked there would be no continuing research into it

This had me hooked when I was 9 yrs old when I first read about it (many, many moons ago haha) Wasn't it doomed from first sailing when its name was the Amazon?? Tragedy followed it from the word go. Thanks for posting aardvaaks... love the full story of Marie Celeste.. weird.

Hey DarrylM is was on the BBC it must be right I agree the debunking theories get an airing and then fall away again, like trends! so where are those US planes? The Methane gas science Slith has proved that if a lot of the stuff bubbles up from the ocean floor when it reaches the surface and any poor object that happens to be above it will sink as the density of the water is altered. It just struck me that the ocean being so vast and unfriendly (just back from 4400 nautical miles myself) is a place of mystery/terror today let alone 130 + years ago and relying on sail only, and we only managed a force 6 in the bay of Biscay.
