The colour always make these pics dramatic, but when you look through a humble telescope and view something like the M57 ring nebula in Lyra first image, it is breathtaking even if not so spectacular as those posted by Boyzy, goodstuff all round.

aards up buxton near to where I live its in the middle of no where,
we renevated a barn and were plastering it. we did 24 hour shifts and stayed over at night working anyhow we used to go outside and look up and the difference the sky was withought any light pollution from towns was unbelievable. we could see the different coloured gas clouds around stars and we saw some weird strange things in the sky!
it was fantastic to just stare up and look at how different the sky was!

Hey Blacky, thats getting back to your/our ancestral roots, also like sitting around a camp fire chewing the fat so to speak.

I have the moors down here which is away from all the light pollution, but where I live is rural also so thats lucky. Unfortunately I am not so hardy so come inside after an hour or so but the Geminid meteor shower a few weeks backs threw up some stunners, but you have got to now elaborate on the Weird stuff you saw??
