Jermaine Taylor has dropped out of the Super Six tournament. What would or should be the next progression here? Anytime you have an odd numbered tournament things get screwy. Should they let Lucien Bute into it? Anthony Mundine? Kelly Pavlik? Even Danny Green could be an option. How do they fix this?

pavlik would be interesting if he went back to his winning ways. no surprise that taylor is out. fact is taylor should take some time and decide if boxing is what he wants to do anymore. he has been brutally knocked out far too many times. he is not some journeyman he is a ranked world class fighter and will continue to fight these types and you can't keep being knocked out by guys of this caliber before you get put to sleep for good.

Yeah, I feel bad for Taylor. The world was his oyster after beating Hopkins twice, but he has never been the same fighter since being k'o ed by Pavlik. The worse part for me is how competitive he has been in these fights he's lost. He almost put Pavlik out in their first fight, was beating Froch until the 12th and was on a pretty even keel with Abraham until getting murdered with that punch. Stepping away is a good call for him right now. Personally, I would like Bute in there. He's a natural super middleweight. Pavlik's first foray into the supers ended with being owned by Hopkins. He was too slow and just looked out of sorts

good point slith i didn't think about it being the supers and pavlik did look out of his element there.
what do you think the problem with taylor is? like you mentioned he was either winning or being competitive on every fight he got knocked out in. is it conditioning? that's the only thing i can come up with. i don't think its a easy fix by getting his conditioning under control at this stage though. the mental damage of losing these fights in such a brutal fashion when had many of them in the bag is not something fighters tend to get better from. hell most lose one fight like that and its over for them.

Not sure it's conditioning Drex. He's a world class athlete afterall. Might be, but I'm leaning more towards he is trying too hard to impress the judges in the last round and not playing it safe. Froch, it was just a bad choice. Had he boxed, he would have won. Abraham was more desperation. He was behind by a bit and took a chance. With Pavlik, he was trying to man it up with the "man" and after the first round, he got overconfident. I hope to see him back, but he needs to work on his defense for sure and to settle down on his punches more, like he did in his early days
