Put me in mind of “The Cremation of Care”...a la Bohemian Grove.
The establishment trying to rid itself of the negative karma it has accumulated with its evil actions, thus freeing it to commit more. In this case, a symbolic erasure of the souls they have taken with Midazolam, the “three-dart finish”, suicide etc. etc.
