478 Olmec & Maya Sites Found by LIDAR in Mexico | New Discover
Aerial remote-sensing (LIDAR) of a large region of Mexico has revealed hundreds of ancient Olmec and Maya ceremonial sites, including the Olmec capital of San Lorenzo. 20 huge platforms surround an enclosure at San Lorenzo nearly one mile long oriented just west of north, the same orientation as La Venta which aligns with specific stars. Many other unknown sites have been located and excavations are about to begin at some of them. This could reveal more of the colossal Olmec Heads and bring to light more information about this unique culture that dominated Mexico before the Maya. Includes exclusive aerial footage.

Nice one Brill. Some of the shots made me think of Mars. And even, maybe , the Moon.
