How Humanity Will Colonize The Moon (According to Science Fiction) I enjoyed listening! Personally, though, I don't think that Homo Sapiens will ever actually colonize the moon because there's no water and there's no atmosphere. I know there might be "an" "atmosphere" made up of some gases, but as NASA indicates, our moon hasn't an actual one. I think that as far as colonization goes, there's nothing in our solar system that's a candidate. People have speculated about Mars, but even though there's water, the atmosphere has only a VERY tiny amount of oxygen, and it's mostly carbon dioxide. The only way to live on Mars would be to live under a big bubble, always under threat of the thing breaking or being hit by a meteorite. I think that if humans go to Mars it will be for some kind of precious metals, not to live. We'll likely look to another solar system for colonization. The key factors would be presence of water, enough oxygen, lack of carbon monoxide and other deadly gases, and soil that's good for planting fruits and vegetables. Meat is not necessary. There'd need to be enough sunlight for plant growth. We'd need to do all of those things without depending on a bubble or similar structure. Just my opinion.
