Country star Charlie Daniels dead at 83 after suffering stroke

COUNTRY Hall of Fame star Charlie Daniels passed away Monday morning at the age of 83.
His death was confirmed in a statement by his publicist Don Murry Grubbs, the Tennessean reported.

Doctors determined that the country singer died after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke, his publicist revealed.
He had been rushed to the Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee, where he was pronounced dead, according to Music Row.
The Grammy winner had suffered a mild stroke back in January 2010 and had a heart pacemaker implanted in 2013 but continued to perform.
He had also been successfully treated for prostate cancer in 2001.
The Grand Ole Opry member is survived by his wife, Hazel, and son Charlie Daniels, Jr.
Charlie's first break in the music industry happened when he wrote the song It Hurts Me in 1964 - a song which was recorded by Elvis Presley.
He rose to fame in 1973 with his song Uneasy Rider and played the fiddle for the Marshall Tucker Band while he tried to continue to make it on his own.
He won his first Grammy in 1979 for Best Country Vocal Performance for The Devil Went to Georgia, a song which was then featured in movies like Urban Cowboy and video games like Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.
Some of his popular hits include In America, The Legend of Wooley Swamp, and Still In Saigon.
Due to his huge success, Charlie had a park named after him in his hometown of Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
He was also inducted into the Country Hall of Fame in 2016.
