Right. I entertained a few last night. Bit of a Tapas thing. The patas bravas(think thats what it was called) will follow soon.
Anyway. A simple marinade for prawns.
1 red chili 2 cloves of garlic. Crushed and chopped sooper fine. 1 hand full of corriander leaves (cillantro) chopped sooper fine. the juice of one lime.
mix all together and let sit for a bit (5 min). Then. chuck on peeled raw prawns (I did 10 so you may need to increase for more) and let marinade for 20-30 min. Stick then on a skewer and grill or broil til done. (broil NOT boil!)
Seafood dip:
1 Tbsp. of creamy horseradish. 10 Tbsp. of ketchup (catsup) a squeeze of lemon juice and a dash of tobasco to taste.
Please note. These are rough guesses at measurments. It's just something I chuck together. All tastes are different. It's fookin lovely with steamed prawns and scallops wrapped in bacon.
Right!!! Off to kill a turkey now!
Just re-read this. Don't use the dip with the marinaded prawns. That would just be silly.

This is a great recipe Concrete! Thanks for that. Sounds delicious! The UK is more prawn orientated, but as you well know, here we are more shrimp based.
Along the same lines. For 6 (or one big person)
Marinade 2 pounds of Tiger shrimp (de-veined) in a cajun spice rub or a hot Thai paste for at least 30 minutes. In a hot frying pan, melt salted butter and saute the shrimp quickly, tossing them every few seconds. Then just before service, add some Pernod and flambe it. The anise flavour really makes this come alive. I serve this on a mango/papaya salsa.
Mango/Papaya Salsa
2 mangos, peeled and finely diced, 2 papayas, peeled and finely diced, 1 red onion, finely diced 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup canola oil, 1 tsp black pepper, 2 Tb sugar, 2 dashes of tabasco sauce, 1 bunch of finely chopped cilantro, 1/2 bunch of finely chopped parsley, salt, to taste
Let stand for at least 2 hours to let the flavors build. Toss every 30 minutes or so to get equal distribution

I love the name canola. Isn't it called rape seed? Should it not be called rape oil?

Yes it is most certainly called rape seed. Why? not sure. But what I do know is it's name comes from CANadian Oil Low Acidity. I think they came out with this in the late seventies. Being one of the few Canucks at the CIA, I took great pleasure in letting this be known it was a Canadian product. A hybrid one at that
