great threads, I can contribute to these if you like. I have Ngati Toa ancestry from my mother so I know a little bit by way of oral traditions about the Patupaiarehe and also a few other sub groups who were the original Tangata Whenua
I have some stuff to do right now, but if its ok with you guys I would love to add some local indigenous knowledge to this!

thanks bro  Ok, so first up. Those videos are great for the most part, and tell the story mostly accurate but there are a few sketchy moments.. like around 22.00 the image of the apkallu... Father Crespi? come on.. So my uncle and aunty used to live just on the edge of the Waipoua forest. It was well known for its huge native Kauri trees, some measure over 40 feet in diameter. They remember when the walls were discovered, and how it was covered up by the local 'iwi' Whats going on here in NZ is basically very similar to other parts of the world. The government has usurped the culture/s of the maori people it stole the land from. The process of 'dumbing down' the population of descendants of these ancient tribes began in the early 1900s around the same time other sinister things were occurring in the developing world. Today the story they use is disgustingly insulting to a number of different groups of aboriginals, but its a sinister tool used as a double edged sword. On one hand the simplification and degradation of specific ethnic groups who existed prior to maori arriving has sought to gain the trust of the majority of people who now seem to desperately identify with this group, in order to gain political advantage (our parliament has 'maori only' seats)... and on the other hand our government has manipulated the education system to include compulsory maori language in public schools and a number of other beneficiary state techniques to weaken the indigenous groups. They offer money for scholarships based purely on race! Theres a lot going on here in nz that mirrors the rest of the world... I wanted to discuss the skeletons that have been found in certain areas, both giants with red hair and hobbits with fair skin and hair. But I can't seem to find anything online, its as if they have erased any trace of these discoveries. |

When for the most part our History has been Fudged,Altered,Hidden,Erazed,Destroyed,Fabricated etc!,and this is by design to keep us from knowing our True Origins.
