Whats Really Going On? Death Toll Rises from Alleged 'Thunderstorm Asthma', Thousands Hospitalized
Published on 27 Nov 2016
undergroundworldnews.com A sixth person has recently died from asthma complications allegedly linked to a rare weather phenomenon, as a thunderstorm coincided with a high pollen count in Australia, officials said. Up to 8,500 people have been affected by ‘thunderstorm asthma.’ A thunderstorm in Melbourne, the second most populous city in Australia, has been causing widespread respiratory issues among asthma and hay fever sufferers since Monday.
The phenomenon dubbed ‘thunderstorm asthma’ takes place when rye grass pollen absorbs moisture, breaks into small pieces and penetrates deep into people’s airways, affecting their health.
“There have now been six deaths that may have occurred as a result of conditions relating to the thunderstorm asthma events on Monday,” the health department spokesman of the State of Victoria said on Sunday.
According to the spokesman, “five patients are continuing to receive specialist ICU [intensive care unit] care in hospitals in Melbourne, with three still in a critical condition.”
Yeah Brill until recently I had never head of 'Thunderstorm Asthma'.
My first thoughts were Cemtrails.
Thunderstorms and weather changes can trigger asthma attacks
An explanation for so-called thunderstorm asthma epidemics in Melbourne, Wagga and London has been found in recent studies that describe how allergen can be released into the atmosphere.
Some grass allergen (like ryegrass allergen Lol p 5) is located on the surface of starch granules within pollen grains. A single pollen grain contains up to 700 starch granules of (that are small enough to reach the lower airways in the lung). When it rains or is humid, pollen grains can absorb moisture and burst, releasing hundreds of small allergenic particles that can penetrate deep into the small airways of the lung.
Not everyone who gets thunderstorm asthma has had it before. They have normally had severe pollen allergic rhinitis and most have been found to be allergic to ryegrass. Presumably the massive load of small allergenic particles being inhaled straight into the lung trigger these attacks.
It is important to note that other factors may also be involved as triggers of thunderstorm asthma. In particular fungal spores, large changes in humidity and temperature over a short period can affect those with respiratory disease and it may not only be people with allergy who are affected. link
Thunderstorm asthma From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A thunderstorm in Tamworth
Thunderstorm asthma is the triggering of an asthma attack by environmental conditions directly caused by a local thunderstorm. It has been proposed that during a thunderstorm, pollen grains can absorb moisture and then burst into much smaller fragments with these fragments being easily dispersed by wind. However, there is no experimental evidence for the proof of this theory. While larger pollen grains are usually filtered by hairs in the nose, the smaller pollen fragments are able to pass through and enter the lungs, triggering the asthma attack.
There have been significant events where thunderstorms have caused widespread asthma attacks across city populations which have overwhelmed emergency services and hospitals and led to deaths. The phenomenon was first recognised and studied after three recorded events in the 1980s; in Birmingham, England, in 1983 and in Melbourne, Australia in 1987 and 1989. Since then there have been further reports of widespread thunderstorm asthma in Wagga Wagga, Australia; London, England; Naples, Italy; Atlanta, United States; and Ahvaz, Iran. A further outbreak in Melbourne, in November 2016, that overwhelmed the ambulance system and some local hospitals, resulted in at least eight deaths. Many of those affected during a thunderstorm asthma outbreak may have never experienced an asthma attack before.
It has been found 95% of those that were affected by thunderstorm asthma had a history of hayfever, and 96% of those people had tested positive to grass pollen allergies, particularly rye grass. A rye grass pollen grain can hold up to 700 tiny starch granules, measuring 0.6 to 2.5 μm, small enough to reach the lower airways in the lung. link
Who does it affect?
Thunderstorm asthma commonly affects young adults with a history of hay fever but not necessarily of asthma. And of those with a previous diagnosis of asthma, many claimed it wasn’t severe enough to warrant preventer medication. link
At first glance, this thunderstorm asthma seems like a freak event, an unavoidable act of nature caused by a combination of stormy weather breaking down pollen particles into pieces small enough to inhale, triggering an asthma response.
However, this is the not the first such event that has occurred in the world, in Australia or even in Melbourne.link
