Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes star as President John F Kennedy and his wife, Jackie, in Stephen Kronish's compelling drama series, charting the triumph and the tragedy of the first couple.
Jack and Bobby try to convince their father that Bobby's being named Attorney General would be a major mistake. Quickly drawn into the Bay of Pigs crisis, virtually all of Jack's advisers - military and civilian - urge him to go ahead with the invasion. JFK is unsure that the plan will work, and he worries that the operation will be linked back to the US - causing major problems with Cuba's ally, the Soviet Union.
Meanwhile, Bobby and J Edgar Hoover butt heads over Bobby's desire to control the flow of information from the Justice Department. Hoover sets out to hurt Bobby the only way he can - through his brother the President.

In the 50th anniversary year of the inauguration of John F. Kennedy as President of the United State, Jonathan Freedland chairs a Culture Show discussion on our enduring fascination with the man, his short-lived administration and the extraordinary political family from which he came. Historian Professor Tony Badger, veteran newsman John Sergeant, political commentator Anne McElvoy and Sarah Bradford, biographer of Jackie Kennedy, will debate the myths and the realities of JFK as well as the controversies surrounding the new American miniseries 'The Kennedys'. In an accompanying short film, Joel Surnow, executive producer of 'The Kennedys', talks about the making the miniseries and the controversy that engulfed it.
