The rising sun put on an amazing display for those going about their early morning routine on Wednesday.
Leader photographer John Veage captured this spectacular image at Cronulla at about 7am.

A senior meteorologist from the Bureau of Metrology thought the image was an ordinary cloud oriented east-west.

He said the cloud appeared to be vertical due to its low angle in the sky.
