Crafton Family Ends Seven Years at Sea - Learning how to Live on Land August 03, 2010 04:39 PM EDT (Updated: August 03, 2010 04:40 PM EDT) views: 758 A family ends seven years at sea. For the past seven years, the Crafton family has lived in a cabin that is about the size of a bathroom. There are five Craftons. The family began their journey in 2003. They left and returned at Severna Park dock. The family’s children actually went through puberty on the boat. They are finding it shocking to assimilate back into life on the shore. In fact, a trip to WalMart caused dad, Tom Crafton, to have to take a nap. They have decided to take is slow. They spent 83 months at sea, and they traveled 30,000 miles around the globe. The family reports that the longer they were at sea, the better they got along. That is amazing. After seven years, the family is completely out of money, so it is time to get back to life and work. It is amazing that the family remained at sea surviving five hurricanes and sleeping together in tiny berths. They kept their quarters free from clutter during their trip. The family lived off of fish and canned goods at sea. They also were able to be able to visit shores along the way. They did take an 18 month break in New Zealand. Right now the Craftons are living in their boat and home schooling their children who are still at home. Their oldest is headed off to college. Do you think your family could survive seven years of this type of togetherness? Would you ever try it?
