Ok guys I have not looked into this but here are a few questions.....
I understand that during a blockade that international waters become militarized. My question is this. Did the UN sign off on this blockade? The legality of the action is based upon other nations of importance agreeing with it.....right?
Why didn't the US or even the UN set up ship inspections so we wouldn't have to take Israel's word for what the ships are carrying into Gaza.
Also......is it me or has the Israeli population started becoming radical? Mostly young people. Watching their recent demonstrations after the raid on the ship you could have taken away all their Israeli flags and I would have been convinced it was a Hamas street rally.
I'm not changing my tune on Israel........in fact it would be my belief that years of terrorist action by the other side has caused this callousness with the Israeli youth. They want to fight fire with fire. How long before they no longer want peace and the total destruction of their enemies is the only win situation they will entertain?
Hell for all I know this recent story about them wanting to sell nukes to south Africa was just a well organized leak to remind people that even though they have never said it.........they do have the power to turn the desert into the largest piece of glass the world has ever seen.
I think they have become everything they once hated.

"Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it"
I think this quote applies to Isreal, only this time they are the Nazis, and I think they quite like it that way.

www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=28983&Cr=palestin&Cr1Drex, this was back in 2008. The sentiment hasn't changed. This blockade is illegal. Always has been. It's called 'collective punishment'. Don't get me wrong. I can understand Israel wanting to protect themselves from bottle rockets. But, how do you make a weapon out of food and medicine? Also, regardles of what people think about Hamas. They were elected in. They did not seize power. To me, regardless of how huch you hate the 'enemy' if you truley want peace. Don't just fucking say it. Do something about it. Israel never seems to do a thing. It's always up to someone else. I'm not so much anti-Israeli. I'm more anti-aparthied. The world stood up in the 80's against SA. We need to do it again.

apartheid........hmm. a thought provoking word. on the surface it seems to explain it all nicely. the walls, relocation programs and overall segregation. israel would counter that by claiming that all their actions are based on safety and security. stalemate.
but, there is one thing that stands out here. israel isn't just looking to coexist anymore. they want domination and control of the region. they want a say in the politics and daily lives of the palestinians. its these concessions that weaken the safety and security claims and demonize israel all over the world. then israel flips off the rest of the world and even its biggest allies anytime they are questioned over their tactics.
if that doesn't sound like apartheid or call up memories of south africa under apartheid i don't know what does.
i'm starting to realize that the israel i've been defending has become too fanatical. the poor souls who are under constant attack from all sides is now cheering the deaths of anyone who stands in their way.
i cannot stress how dangerous it is for the israeli youths to be radical. anyone who remembers the revolution in iran will understand this. how long before the israeli government cannot satisfy the call for blood? how long before the new generation take over and implement policies that make the current ones seem fair and peace loving?
the recent events and the actions of the israeli youth have me somewhat nervous.

Interesting thought Drexspin. ;D I like how you brought Iran into it. Remember the Shah? Diplomacy comes in many forms. As I said before. It takes one gesture. Who wants war?

I was on a conspiracy site a year or so ago and there was a story claiming that israel had orchestrated the iranian revolution to pit american against iran. which was supposed to fulfill some zionist agenda. i doubt the story's validity since it was a site also about reptiles but i just thought it was funny because of where this discussion has gone.

hahahaha. no man...........it wasn't a trap. everything i've said i meant. truth be told i was simply putting the conspiracy out there because i remembered reading it. i guess i was trying to be too nonchalant even though i mulled it over for a moment before i posted about it.
in other words i entertained the thought for a moment that maybe the conspiracy was on to something. then i had to get my head out of the clouds and remember the type of site it was.
where the discussion has gone meant similarities found in iran's past and in israel's future.
