Now. I know I may read into things a bit too much, and this may be a good thing for diagnosing Dengue fever, or Ebola. Suppose where it comes down to where you are. But, I read this. www.wired.com/dangerroom/2010/05/pentagon-virus-detector-knows-youre-sick-before-you-do/ “There’s a lot of motivation within the Pentagon to get this going,”Then I remembered a story I read years ago. Although, called a hoax at the time. It still makes me wonder. “The project's aim is to manufacture a genetically engineered bacterium or virus that would kill certain Arab ethnic groups, the paper said.”www.salon.com/news/1998/12/02news.htmlNow. This story was back in 1998. But, think about it. Good lies always have some basis from truth. Imagine how much has changed in 12 years, at least regarding genetic research. I’m not saying it’s J v. A. But imagine, if you could spread a disease that’s 80% fatal in all cases, without immediate treatment. Kinda makes me wonder why DARPA is involved, and why the pentagon wants it quick.

here is what i got out of it.
i see a lot of good coming from this but also can recognize the pitfalls if its used wrong.
seems to me that israelis would be hard to distinguish from arabs. then again you have a couple of thousand years separation going on.
i was a bit surprised by the naysayers of the 'arab' virus. one man even said we may look different but we are still the same on the inside. that is not true. blacks can get sickle cell anemia whites can't. the bird flu was the most dangerous among the asian population but stopped dead in its tracks when it reached canada.
i don't thinks its far fetched or fantasy to believe that a race specific virus could be created. i just question the claims that it has been used or is ready to be used.

American biological warfare experts are reacting skeptically to a report that Israel is working on a biological weapon that could infect and kill Arabs but not Jews. The top secret Israeli "ethno-bomb" project is the product of medical research that has identified distinctive genes carried by some Arabs, particularly Iraqis, according to a report last month in the London Sunday Times. The project's aim is to manufacture a genetically engineered bacterium or virus that would kill certain Arab ethnic groups, the paper said. The notion that the Jewish state is developing a bomb targeting people by "race" outraged some members of Israel's parliament. But ethics and morality aside, American experts are skeptical that sucha weapon is possible today. www.salon.com/news/1998/12/02news.htmlThat’s the impressive potential of an ongoing Pentagon-funded research project, spearheaded by geneticists at Duke University. Since 2006, they’ve been hunting for a genetic signature that can accurately assess, well before symptoms appear, whether someone’s been infected with a virus. Eight months into a $19.5 million grant from Darpa, the Pentagon’s out-there research agency, the expert behind the program is anticipating a tool with implications far beyond military circles. Dr. Geoffrey Ginsburg, director of Duke’s Institute for Genome Science & Policy, is collaborating with a team of colleagues to create a gadget that can detect viral infection hours before the sniffles. Between 2006 and 2009, his team made rapid strides in identifying 30 genetic markers, found through blood samples, that are activated by a virus. They’ve since moved to human trials, testing 80 people in four studies. Healthy participants were exposed to three different viral strains. Their blood, saliva and urine were then tested for “viral specific signatures,” that would characterize illness. www.wired.com/dangerroom/2010/05/pentagon-virus-detector-knows-youre-sick-before-you-do/They have identified 30 genetic markers already, found through blood samples, that are activated by a virus. So if they find just one genetic marker that is unique to any one racial group.... that's the dark side of this I suppose.
