it looks like its the farmers that are pointing fingers, but as yet no proof its UK or USA quote[Farmers are claiming that the British and Americans are responsible for the outbreak of the poppy plague but officials have strongly denied involvement. Samples of diseased plants are awaiting tests in Kabul and the cause remains unclear. The blight was first noticed a month ago with reports it was linked to an infestation of aphids in wheat and fruit trees. It has since been found in four provinces across the south.
Early surveys suggest half the crop in northern Helmand is affected and a fifth of fields in the province's south. Symptoms have been spotted in Kandahar, Zabul and Uruzgan. the thing is most protect it!

my guess is they might be poisoning the crops of those not onboard with the military. no way we are going to destroy that cash cow. the taliban basically did the same thing..........without chemicals that is. they would burn the crops of those who grew the plants outside of taliban control.

concrete your senses tingling might have good cause. if they are doing this it shows that they can't control the spread of the poison. who knows what the long term effects of this could be.

Agent Orange anyone?
I remember back in the late 90s when the Taliban destroyed the crops, it was the biggest heroin drought the world had ever seen.
It was resposible for an enourmous increase in the use of meth in Australia, by the end everyone, the cops and politcians were praying for the drought to end to get rid of the meth heads and get them back on the gear to calm everyone the fuck down.

the taliban were lobbying to be recognized as the leaders of afghanistan by the UN. they burnt the crops because they had been called drug dealing thugs. it didn't work and the taliban lost millions from the crop loss.
