So, I read this article. Then I thought to myself, when exactly does life start? www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/04/100401173836.htmNow, I have my own onions on the abortion issue. But, this technology will open up a whole new debate from both sides (or all three if you think like I do). To be declared clinicaly dead. Clinical death is the medical term for cessation of blood circulation and breathing, the two necessary criteria to sustain life. This itself is debateable. But, is not the same as 'legaly dead', which basically means, no brain function. Now, I know a few politocrats with no brain function, yet. They are still clinically alive. Anyway. Back to point. If 'clinical death' is the lack of cardiopulminary actions. Does that mean life, clinically starts at the first signs of a heart beat? True, it is not 'breathing' as we do. But, it is pumping blood that it needs to survive the rest of its 'life' and circulating amniotic fluids. I'm not talking about single celled thingies, nor am I talking plants. But really when does life start for a multi-celled animal?

Without brain function, there is no thought, without thought there is no life.
Just my onion.

When does a life have a soul ? The will to live and not just being part of a process,to discard an embryonic life is no different to me than killing who knows what when i go about my daily routine.Snails that come out onto the path when it is raining piss me off crunch crunch bloody crunch,do i have to buy night vision. Please don't misunderstand me the choice is not in the life forms hands. Embryos look like tiny humans that's got to make it tough because we have a thought process when does theres start. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embryo

See. This is where it gets tricky.
Darryl. If, to be considered alive. You need thought, does a fish think? Or does it just follow instinct? Yet, they are alive are they not?
Wiggy. This is where it gets interesting, as well as brings up moral dillemas. If as you state, life does not start until the first breath. Using your thinking, would it would be acceptable to kill a baby, after it has been born? Just a long as it has not taken it's first breath? I suppose the most effective way would be to smother it, thereby guaranteeing no first breath.

I suppose "thought" may have been a poor choice of words...........lets say "brain activity" a feotous up to a certain age has no brain function.
I am against late term abortions, accept in exceptional circumstances.
But then for me, I can never carry a baby inside my body, so in reality I have no right to an opinoin, its not my choice.

I do believe we are the only animal that has a different make up,unique but with similar instincts survival. We make choices rather than pure instinct otherwise all the other spieces would evolve and we may even become prey, part of the food chain again.
