Eagle River Close Encounter (man given 'pancakes' by UFO occupants)Date: April 18, 1961 Location: Eagle River, Wisconsin, United StatesMr. Paul Simonton, a chicken farmer in Eagle River, Wisconsin saw a disc-shaped craft land vertically on his farm. A hatch opened, and when he approached he saw three human-looking men inside. They asked him for some water. They appeared to be cooking pancakes on a griddle, and in exchange for the water they gave him four of the pancakes from griddle. The episode survived a rigorous assessment by the U.S. Air Force and is carried in their files as "unexplained." Sketch of the UFO, based on a drawing supplied by Joe Simonton. Two photographs of Joe Simonton with one of the "alien pancakes". The problem we have with this case is the pancake? according to Jacques Vallee, 1969 Pancakes in Magonia
The cake was composed of hydrogenated fat, starch, buckwheat hulls, soya bean hulls, wheat bran. Bacteria and radiation readings were normal for this material. Chemical, infra-red and other destructive type tests were run on the material. The Food and Drug Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare concluded that the material was an ordinary pancake of terrestrial origin. so do i believe the U.S.department of health, educating and welfare could be lieing....! possibly but they could just as well be telling the truth........The case was never solved even if rumours state different.

Thanks Brill, I remember now that there was doubt that there was anything special about the pancakes. Thanks wes,its a shame but Its the nature of the beast! Ufos can be a fascinating subject, but caution must be paramount! The further up the road we go, the harder it is to nail past UFO cases as fact or fiction! we can only speculate and wait for the next bite, lol
