Warmer weather here and I stopped by my first chip wagon of the year today. These fries stay hotter for the longest time, but it brought back something I asked years ago to a local vendor. Why are the chips so sweet? They tasted fantastic. Apparently, when the fryer oil is cool, they add Sprite. When the oil heats up, the water evaporates, yet the sugar/sweetness remains. I was told this is the only soft drink that doesn't explode when the fryer gets up to temp. I can only imagine what the poor bastard who finally figured this out looks like.

I prefer coke fries myself..............not the drink, you just use coke instead of salt.
