But now they are the first ever Premier League club to be immortalised in the award-winning cartoon, The Simpsons. Despite last weekend's defeat by Liverpool, the newly-promoted Hammers have made a promising start to the season. And it seems that the efforts of Sam Allardyce's side have not gone unnoticed across the pond after the club were given a surprise mention on the legendary comedy show.  In the seventh episode of the current - and 24th - series, titled 'The Day The Earth Stood Cool', Bart and Lisa are amazed to discover a 'West Ham United' banner as they enter the Bohemian bedroom of new neighbour, T-Rex. While the famous Castle crest is included, the east London outfit's traditional claret and blue colours are replaced with green and gold. The Barclays Premier League club were thrilled by the appearance and tweeted: 'West Ham United were delighted to be featured in The Simpsons episode "The Day The Earth Stood Cool"!' One stunned Hammers supporter, VeniceHammer, wrote on the Knees Up Mother Brown forum: 'At first I was a bit outraged since they got the colours so completely wrong, but then I guessed it was at least cool to be named in such a well-known TV show. 'Maybe it's all part of the plan for a re-branding after moving to the Olympic Stadium!' Although there are no posters of the likes of Carlton Cole, Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan in T-Rex's room, West Ham can consider themselves among an elite list of celebrity guest stars on the show.
