This thread still kicking??? I have had server start up issues for some time and fearful. If so willing to help compensation may be applicable. Must be trusted source and have others to verify such trust. This project would have to do with setting up the server box ie: opening the ports and security item dealing with. The basics one would hope. I have had the four PCs here talking to each other. Cutting this down to two. If interested in more send a message. Are you using a SQL Server Configuration Manager Shaggie?

Wes, my apologies for the delay.
I may be stepping out of my realm. let me give ya a break down of my situation.
I know of others that do research and want data storage. I can not find any people/friends locally that either know how to set this up or whom I can trust. More of a file storage/trade ect. Not knowing if accounts are enough or a proggy like filezilla/hotline [now thing of past it seems] needed That said.
Being a noob on set up and or comprehension of servers i was lead towards windows 8 for what my intentions are. here is break down of the system collecting dust to my side.
OS: windows 8.1 pro Processor: 5130 @2.00 GHZ [2 processors] Installed memory: 15gb system type 64 bit w/64 bit processor 300 gb HDD 4.5TB external
Server itself is HP Proliant ML350 Gen5
I was hope for grander items. May just make it my main box when this one eventually dies. Have a little cash in it to get the second processor to sync up and in storage.
Is it worth the effort? or am I on right track for what was envisioned? TY for the reply.

I looked at setting up some severs recently for a platform for a Music download Web site and we worked out that it was to much trouble. We needed an Air conditioned room, to keep the severs cool, and then had the worry of hacking issues. Sounds like you have a good idea what you need to make this work. Using the Cloud could a easier option. Drop Box or some think similar mat be worth looking at.

Limited access as far as population of accounts and whom has access. I would like it limited to 8 max accounts. After all I aint NASA!!!! I am looking for a shared server box. The opening of ports ect is a concern.... For the others that is. if people want my shit snake it. I have back u[p and have been cleaned out back in the HOTLINE server days a couple times. Bought a domain name. sitting idol/filezilla yet ports and authority to let in?? have looked at many avenues in getting this box online. Again not a big deal was just trying to help a community of peoples. May have to just buy vid card audio ect and in-corporate it into something rather than nothing. Thanks for the reply
