You could just see the nasa boffins, sitting watching the Tv as the seconds tick by and the ground gets closer. "you put the parachute in didnt you?" "no you said you had already done it!" "Oh shit" LoL durr hey its a good job that they always to consider that splat down is somewhere not densely populated and sandy.

It was when it hit the ground at about 600 miles an hour. Lucky those samples were marked "frajile".
