wanna make my own marinara sauce. what do i do? Tomato sauce and water. Onions, celery, green peppers. Italian seasoning (oregano, basil, thyme), garlic, salt and peppa, to taste,(or maybe a bit of vegetable soup base). A touch of sugar or cinnamon to cut out the acidity of the tomatoes. Cook it out for an hour and then hit it with a handful of fresh parmesan cheese at the end and blend it in. I like it with a couple of shots of tabasco or some Franks Red Hot. You might need to thicken with a cornstarch slurry. Depends on the thickness of the sauce you are looking for

drex super easy to make .....1 large can 35 oz crushed or whole canned tomatos, a few basil leaves ,a few cloves of garlic ( add more or less to suite your taste), olive oil, salt $ pepper .../ heat up a sauce pan add olive oil .... just enough oil to cover bottom of pan add garlic just cook it for a minute or 2 if it starts to get brown immediatley add tomatoes what ever you do .. dont let the garlic it burn it will kill the sauce !! add tomatos salt pepper let it boil for about 10 minutes turn down to simmer ,, if ya got whole tomatoes take a fork or a potatoe masher and crush the tomatoes which will be nice and tender add basil to taste,, try to use fresh basil it tastes way better than dryed ... if fresh roll leaves up and thinly slice them before adding to sauce let it simmer another 15 minutes if sauce is thin add a little tomato paste like a teaspoon or 2 stir in thats it! marinara is a very simple quick sauce not meant to cook a long time like say for instance a sunday sauce which cooks for hours and hours and has everything but the kitchen sink thrown in ... .... should only take lake like 1/2 hour to 40 minutes from prep to plate .... this i learned from my aunt ... right off the boat from italy . hey i almost forgot you can either slice crush or mince the garlic before you put it in the sauce lol

Ragu is a premade sauce. Very thick. To me very tasteless. Got to play with it. Like the Italian soccer team at the world cup. FAIL! Marinara is not so readily available on the shelves as far as I know. At least not up here, Better to make your own man. Your tastebuds dictate what you want

It is to a sense, but it is meatless. Purely vegetarian, or should be.
