Hey guys, sorry to sort of pour water on the fire here but be very careful when you buy scopes, as Brill said earlier binocs are great for the moon sat still in a deck chair or you can lie on your front with a bean bag to support the binocs. As far as telescopes go the refractor or ones with an object lens in the front dont buy one smaller than 3 inches 75mm and for a refracting newtonian telescope ones with mirrors you double that size as a minimum spec. Barlow lenses are a good idea but extra glass causes light loss and when its something dim like Mars for example then the image quality suffers so best to use the larger lenses larger focal length sizes 25mm, 40 mm etc = lower magnification. I use the following scope But the skywatcher Skymax-127 Maksutov-Cassegrain a combi of mirrors and lenses telescope is the best deal £279 telescope..Nice and much lighter to lug around the garden. www.firstlightoptics.com/proddetail.php?prod=SW127SupaTrakAUTO
