I ve said this in another thread a while back but as far as the actual artifacts surviving through a long time are very doubtful... look at our civilization, what would happen if we lost our ability to build high technology? i think the higher the tech .. the easier it is to have it tumble if things go wrong... look back 150 years ago, society was just beginning the industrial revolution and we have advanced quite a bit, how it was achieved is discussion for another time but if we go back 200 years that society technologically speaking was pretty indestructible because most everything was made by hand , many people had the know edge of things like blacksmithing etc all tradesmen pretty much and thats how goods were made, today i doubt if many people could just go and build a nuclear reactor to make power or even a conventional power station, or cars , TV and ipods and on and on, so if something catastrophic were to happen we would most likely lose it all in maybe 100 years at best but )I m just guessing ) once we ran out of spare parts for all our cool high tech stuff ...so then we would most likely fall back to the agricultural society of about 200 years ago. now that is only a 100 year span . jump to 10,000 years or so which seems to be a corresponding date for some type of ancient cataclysm--- war plague who knows , what would be left ? buildings would crumble to dust, cars would rust away to nothing and so on, there might however be small pockets of preserved technology hidden by natural or man made means but they need would need to be discovered
