Hesop, I thought of Bonanza also looking at the first couple of shots. Funny how we are so programmed, I even had the tune going in my head.
It is a completely different thing when we share pieces of our "real" self and don't remain anonymous behind a screen name and character. It is fine for those who do choose to remain that way.....it is a personal choice, but things are much different when we actually reach into the world of those we share time and ideas with.
I imagine being a cowboy just wouldn't be the same as it used to be, with all the slaughter houses being the way they are now, not much chance for a rancher to make it unless they were to raise special breeders, at least that is how I would imagine it to be.
Horses are great, I love to ride them but I do have a healthy fear of them as well.

That "healthy" fear is essential, for staying alive. I've lost 2 friends in 2 years from horse "accidents". Not the way I want to go. I'm kinda, semi-retired now. Having giving up on the larger work, and just working "smaller" places now. I had a damn good horse, but he was getting up there in years, so I sold him off to some kids starting out. This country here never ceases to amaze me, and I enjoy sharing it. A 4 wheeler is much safer, and I don't have to break it in, and doesn't cost me anything if it just sits there. I wish I still had my old photos. I lived a lot of variety. 20 years ago I had a nice brick house in the burbs, with a Caddilac Barritz, and a Jaguar sitting in the drive. Don't miss it at all.

Nice thread thoughts everyone.
The dairy farm up the road from me does all the movement of cows in a lorry, thats progress. Looking at the pics Hesop, well reminds me of dreams of a kid. Today thanks to TV and the press of shallow celebrities all children want to grow up to aspire to are film stars, singers dancers and sadly for many of them they wont aspire. Bring back cowboys nurses and firemen, when did you last hear a child wish to become one when they grew up?
PS Blacky hopefully the housing market will pickup soon and kick start the trades.
