Hey you Americans, just how bad is this SOPA bill, as nothing is being shown on UK tv? but proboards is asking for sigs U.S. Congress appears likely to move forward with SOPA and PIPA, despite widespread opposition, IDGNS reports. The U.S. Senate is expected to begin floor debate on PIPA shortly after senators return to D.C. on Jan. 23, and supporters appear to have the votes to override a threatened filibuster. Some opponents of the bills hold out hope: 'We're optimistic that if members really understood the Internet architecture and cybersecurity measures, they would not support SOPA as written. Instead, members who are really committed to combatting online piracy would look for effective ways to do that without compromising cybersecurity or the open architecture of the Internet,' said a CCIA spokesperson. Others remain doubtful that Congress will come to this understanding.

I don't know how bad it is. Which usually means it is very fucking bad. Life in the USA is surreal, that's all I can verify.

We posted this earlier brill. Looks like all the shut downs and threatened boycotts are working though a slimmed down version may go through later. We have to keep up the pressure to keep speech free. I don't mind laws and rules over piracy, but if they limit speech and commerce I mind very much....Content providers have rights to protect their work but not at the expense of everyone else's rights. They need to enforce existing Copywrite laws. criticalbelievers.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rs&action=display&thread=13830
