Tunnels the freeways of Stone Age worldA German archeologist says Stone Age man created thousands of kilometres of underground tunnels stretching from Turkey to Scotland. Dr. Heinrich Kusch says evidence of the tunnels has been found under hundreds of Neolithic settlements all over the continent, according to a report in the German Herald newspaper. His book, Secrets of the Underground Door to an Ancient World, says the fact that so many have survived after 12,000 years shows that the original tunnel network must have been enormous. "In Bavaria in Germany alone we have found 700 metres of these underground tunnel networks. In Styria in Austria we have found 350 metres," he told the German Herald. "Across Europe there were thousands of them - from the north in Scotland down to the Mediterranean. "Most are not much larger than big wormholes - just 70 cm wide - just wide enough for a person to wriggle along but nothing else. They are interspersed with nooks, at some places it's larger and there is seating, or storage chambers and rooms. "They do not all link up but taken together it is a massive underground network," he added. Some experts believe the network was a way of protecting man from predators while others believe that some of the linked tunnels were used like freeways are today. au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/offbeat/9979541/tunnels-were-freeways-of-stone-age-world/

I still find this a little hard to believe.

Travel during the last Ice Age? I still find this a little hard to believe. Maybe it was easier to travel underground than to travel over miles of ice. But this reminds me of the tunnels used by the North Vietnamese Cu Chi Tunnels / Vietnam

Fucks sake. They are worn sandstone tunnels, caused by WATER.
If a Human dug these during an ice age. It'd be a really fucking stupid one.
Why tunnel frozen rock when you could ski?
