I was asked to do a friends wedding cake a few days ago. I said sure, thinking it would be a normal tiered cake, with fondant and some royale icing, ribbons, flowers and such. Apparently I was wrong. The wedding craze of late is cupcakes. I don't know why? She wants a cake made up of 120 cupcakes, all individually iced, with a real cake on top where the figurines go. I have no clue. Anybody ever seen anything like this before? Any ideas?

Ahhh a lot of people are wanting this now. A friend of mine asked me to do it for her wedding but I didn’t feel confident enough and didn’t have the time. Making cakes is my thing, but it’s one thing cooking for pleasure to cooking for profit.
Google them, there is some great pics for ideas. Also check out this company, I love the crown cakes opposed to cup/fairy cakes especially for a wedding.
Post a pic when you’re done, I would love to see it all finished.

Ooooppps I forgot the link lol www.lvcc.co.uk/crown-wedding-cakes.aspAard that cake is great lol Ever tried a meringue topping on a cupcake?? ? Whip up a batch of meringue, pipe it carefully onto the tops of cooled cupcakes. Pop under a preheated grill for a couple of minutes to set the meringue, you get a lovely crispy, marshy mallowy topping once there cooled. I have made these before Just a basic butter cream topping with coloured coconut on top and a icing/edible heart. When I make the cakes themselves I push a raspberry into the centre of the mix before cooking, it’s a nice surprise when you bite into them. Also popping candy sprinkled onto the piped butter icing/cream is good, it gives a surprise and a talking point lol Ask them if they want a theme, (hearts & flowers etc) or a specific colour and work around that. There are loads of lovely options.

Cupcake wedding? Well I need some information on the bride. Did she give you any instructions other than what you said? White wedding? How old is the bride and groom? What nationality? What do you mean by real cake on top?Does the cake rest on the cupcakes?
