British man killed by heat from cannabis farm inside his home. Luke Holmes died in bed after being overcome by the heat from cannabis farms inside his home. Holmes, 28, set up three foil-lined tents each containing marijuana plants cultivated under a battery of halogen lamps. The powerful lights sent the temperature in his home soaring to more than 100°F (38°C), an inquest heard. Holmes died in his sleep and was found three days later when pals broke into his house in Halifax, West Yorks. Police almost fainted from the heat when they entered the property on a warm day last June. The inquest in Bradford heard that Holmes was a drug user, although no drugs were found in his system. He died from hyperthermia, or excessive heat. Verdict: Accident. www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2974957/Druggie-killed-by-cannabis-lamps.html

lol halogens, range from 75 to 4000 watts, halogens get very hot and this creates a completely unsuitible condition for growing ganja duck, yeah they grow but are not the best, they have a low CRI rating so a better choice is HID[high intensity discharge] or horticultral lights, they are the perfect spectrum for growing HID lights have 3 subcategoies;MH=metel halide...MV=mercury vapour and HPS =high presure sodium MH/MV lights has a tendency to be slightly outside the optimum spectrum range, being too blue HPS lights on the other hand lean towards the red spectrum and are the perfect spectrum for growing cannabis and come highly recomended, particularly for the flowering stage of the life cycle

Yeh heat is a major problem, I first used HPS and let my plants veg for too long, run out of height and subsequently burnt the tops Since then I used Envirolight (there's a link in the grow guide) no heat, low power consumption and just all round niceness, some people might say there sh*t (I don't know this for definite) but I would hazard a guess those people have never tried them lol The only trouble is you would need 2 different bulbs, unless you use auto-flowing plants. That's not too much trouble though lol, the bulbs are cheap aswell. I'de love to see ya ting man...
