I think that you already might have your own theories on this concrete. ... Money?

Suprisingly I don't. Sure, money could be a prime motivator. But, again who would that benefit? If somehow it did 'naturaly' mutate, into an extremely virulent and deadly virus, it would only benefit monetarily if there were already a vaccine created. As we saw with the swine flu, it was global in what a couple months? The same would happen with a deadly version. It would spread faster than quarentines could be created. They would only quarentine after x number of confirmed cases. By then it'd be too late and alot of people would be dead, including some of the people who would benefit the most. If there was a vaccine availiable almost immediately, that would raise too many suspicions about the virus being 'natural' and there would be alot of pissed off people. So, by creating and releasing a virus, it really wouldn't be of benefit to many. If it actually did evolve as per the scenario, what would this research help with? Nothing really.
Now if they could figure out how to block the protien used by the virus(without blocking the same protiens in the human body), then yes. This research may be of benefit. But, the article seems to only imply that they create these viruses to see how they kill, and leave it at that.
I dunno. I just cant see any benefit of either creating a virus that doesn't exist yet, or storing it after it's created.

No one would benefit. The only reason it would be made and let loose was if a massive cull was needed.

i never fell for the swine flu scam,i have low immune system and was advised to have it but i declined.most nasty viruses always seem to be traced back to some lab and not to some plain airborn virus that jumped evolution and crossed with 3 others, big pharma make mega bucks

Sorry, wes. Had some proper work yesterday.
Anyway. Even a vaccine maker wouldn't benefit from it. If a vaccine came out too quick, it would look too obvious that it was a planned event. The survivours would destroy them either physicaly, or with class action law suits. If it were an original virus, the vaccine makers would suffer the same fate as the rest of humanity. True they would make money, but if huge amounts of population were dead. That means less vaccine to use and less profit. Greed dictates that you must maximise profit, so why destroy your own customers?

first this disclaimer: the following is pure thought exercise. conjecture.
what if they are actually looking to make viruses that only proved deadly to certain races. there would still be a small percentage of deaths among the general population of the world but the deadliness would be concentrated among certain types.
take the bird flu........it mainly kills asians. the more recent bird/swine flu seemed to target those of latin decent. the latter would have been problematic for 2 different reasons. 1 there are many people especially here in america with at least some small percentage of a latin bloodline. 2 this strain would have quickly been defeated because of that same fact. it would have grown weaker not stronger because it would have attacked those with that small percentage but they would have also been resilient against the deadlier effects causing the virus to mutate into a less lethal form. would explain the prolific beginning and ultimate demise of the virus in such a short period.

Or a virus that attacked only one type of blood group. Or can be activated depending on the hormone levels in the blood eg pregnant woman, elderly, teens etc... I read to much science fiction me thinx lol
