A CHILLI so hot its seeds are used by the Indian Army as WEAPONS is to hit Britain's supermarket shelves this week. The bhut jolokia is the hottest chilli to be sold on the high street. It scores a fearsome 1,001,304 points on the Scoville scale that measures peppers' heat. The average jalapeno comes in at about 10,000. Harry Jones, buyer at Tesco which is rolling out the ingredient across its stores from this week, said: "All I can say is that it's not for the faint-hearted or anyone with a respiratory condition." Indian Army scientists recently developed a crowd-control grenade packed with ground seeds from the chilli. It showers a dust so spicy that in trials people were blinded for hours. The chillis are to be sold in mini packets costing 90p each.
